A new addition to the garden was a potato condo… or perhaps high-rise. I built 5 wooden tiers, the theory being that as the plants grow, you continually add a tier and bury the plants. Then potatoes grow up with it.
Unfortunately that’s not how it worked out. Grandpa and Grandma H, and Jenny were around to help pull it apart in hopes of finding a massive treasure. Instead there was just mostly dirt. There were a few potatoes at the very bottom though, and they were quite a sight – bright bright purple!
We’re guessing the mistake was in not keeping up at burying the plants. At times they were at least a foot high above the soil, when they should have been buried at an inch or two. Oh well, better luck next year!
