For the second straight year we spent a few days on the Colorado River with friends. This is becoming something we want to do more of – become river people or somesuch. We’ve even considered buying a used raft…
This year was 3 nights on the Ruby Horsethief section of the Colorado. The DeFord’s, McCain’s and the Lester’s were aboard, along with Eric Barber and Juliana. Most rented boats from an outfit in Fruita, and we were lucky enough to borrow a nice raft from friends.
Kari celebrated her 40th birthday on the trip, and since Maile had just turned we had a nice celebration for both. I gave Kari pie irons for a gift and tried making apple pie with limited success.
Overall the trip was a lot of fun, of course. We learned a lot about how to rig and enjoy the float, but could be looking to up the ante in the next few years. Class 2 just isn’t pumping the adrenaline enough.
