For UEA this year we decided to spend time in North Wash on a Canyoneering adventure. Prepping for the trip we discussed getting the kids to step it up a notch by attempting harder canyons. And having them repel on their own. They weren’t too psyched about that leading up to the trip, but I was pretty confident that they’d get it, and actually like it.
Turns out they did! A little nervous and scared at first, they both rappelled themselves from the first rap on. An adult would go down first and provide a fireman’s belay, but it was never needed. It was a really great trip that gave us hope for future harder canyons.
Canyons on this trip: East Leprechaun, Maidenwater, Monkey Business, Morocco.
